As part of ongoing efforts to improve the well-being of children and their families, the RW0812 EAR Kiraro Project successfully conducted a livestock distribution activity today, during which 15 families received cows and 20 other families received small livestock to support their socio-economic development and household livelihoods. The event was attended by various leaders and stakeholders, including representatives from the District of Nyamagabe, EAR Kigeme Diocese, Compassion International, the Sector authorities of Kibirizi and Cyanika, local government leaders, and other invited guests. In his remarks, the Guest of Honor expressed sincere appreciation to Compassion International, EAR Kigeme Diocese, and all partners for their continued commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable families. He noted that initiatives of this nature play a significant role in poverty reduction, improving household nutrition, and promoting sustainable economic development. He stated: “We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all partners who contributed to making this important activity possible. The cows and other livestock provided today are not merely gifts; they are valuable assets that can transform the livelihoods of beneficiary families. We encourage all recipients to take good care of these animals, manage them responsibly, and make the most of this opportunity to improve their household income and overall well-being.” He further urged the beneficiaries to follow recommended animal husbandry practices, seek veterinary support when necessary, and ensure that the livestock remain healthy and productive. In addition to the direct beneficiaries of the project, several community members who do not have children enrolled in the project also received goats through the livestock pass-on program. This initiative reflects the spirit of community solidarity and ensures that the benefits of the project extend beyond its immediate participants. All cow beneficiaries signed agreements committing themselves to proper livestock management and to passing on the first calf born from the donated cow to another family in need. This pass-on approach promotes sustainability, shared responsibility, and broader community impact. Beneficiaries expressed their joy and appreciation for the support received. Many noted that the livestock would help improve household nutrition through milk production, enhance agricultural productivity through the use of organic manure, and strengthen their economic resilience. The event was marked by gratitude, celebration, and renewed hope for a better future. Participants thanked God for the success of the activity and reaffirmed their commitment to working together towards sustainable community development.
